Subject: More interactive SMART App on the way!

Hello Volunteers,

SMART is excited to let you know that a new version of the SMART Recovery App is scheduled to be released Monday 10/30 to the world. It is more interactive and even more useful for those in recovery. We want to give you a first look and tell you a bit about it.

Here is what the home screen looks like:

Note the four categories at the bottom of the screen that guide the user, starting with the de-facto home screen "Explore." Finding a meeting is easy to do and a daily motivation quote offers food for thought.

As you scroll down on this "Explore" screen you will find information about what you can expect at a SMART meeting and articles on topics that frequently come up during our meetings. The next screen, "Meetings" takes you directly to the SMARTfinder. Continuing to the "Toolkit" screen is where it gets really interesting:

For each of the tools listed there is a description and guidance about how to use the tool, and links to worksheets and other resources. If there is a video about the tool it can also be found with the description. With some of the tools you'll be able to "work" them right there on your phone.

The final category screen is "Urges" and there are several interactive features found there, including reading articles about how to deal with urges. More directly, however, there is a button that helps deal with an urge right then and there:

When you click on "Manage Urge," you can choose to reflect on motivational thoughts or engage in a suggested activity to distract you from the urge. These are provided randomly and there are tons of options so you can find one right for you in that moment.

Please note: you will not have to reinstall the SMART Recovery App on your phone, it will be updated automatically, depending on how you have configured your phone settings. If you aren't updated by Tuesday, you may want to check and make a manual update.

Thank you for all you do for SMART Recovery!
