| | I’m passionate about helping young people overcome substance abuse problems. I started Brady’s Hope in 2012 to provide information and resources to help people in my local community make the choice of a drug-free life. One important resource that we provide is knowledge about SMART Recovery…because SMART Recovery saves lives.
I didn’t get involved in this mission on a whim. Brady’s Hope was created in honor of my son who died from a prescription drug overdose just two weeks after his graduation from high school.
I felt driven to understand why this had happened. So I immersed myself in every resource I could find to educate myself. I learned a lot about the dangers of prescription drugs. And I learned a lot about the recovery process. That's when I first learned about SMART's science-based approach to recovery. By this time I realized that I had learned enough to really be of some help to other parents and their kids. That's why I founded Brady’s Hope, to bring prescription drug awareness not only to our community but as far as I could reach — and SMART Recovery backed me the whole way.
Now I talk to thousands of kids and parents a year about the dangers of prescription drugs. SMART Recovery plays a key role in that cause for a very simple reason: because SMART‘s modern, science-based program saves lives.
