SMART Online Meetings Are Getting Even Smarter!

Over the past eight weeks, SMART Recovery has been testing a new process for hosting online meetings. With the success of this pilot, we are now ready to roll out Phase 1, moving nearly 350 of our local online meetings from SMART-provided Zoom accounts to Pathminder Online Meetings.

What does this mean for you as a participant?

No change in how you search for meetings. You will continue to find meetings through SMARTfinder. Once you select a meeting, you’ll see its details and, for online meetings, simply click the Join Now button to enter.

The same familiar Zoom experience. Meetings are still held on Zoom, so nothing will change in how you participate or use Zoom features.
Easier access. Saved Zoom links will no longer work, so using the Join Now button ensures you’re always on the correct, secure link.
Smoother hosting. Pathminder allows any facilitator listed on SMARTfinder to open the meeting, improving reliability.
Greater security. The Zoom link will be unique each week, reducing the chance of disruptions.
Cost savings for SMART Recovery. This change allows us to redirect resources toward supporting more volunteers and participants.

Important: This change currently applies only to local online meetings on SMART-provided Zoom accounts. National meetings, in-person meetings, and meetings that use their own Zoom will not be affected during this phase.

We’re excited to begin Phase 1 of this transition and look forward to offering participants and facilitators a more secure, flexible, and cost-effective system — while keeping the meeting experience exactly the same.
