What does happiness have to do with recovery?

SMART is supporting the efforts of a group of scientists from the Recovery Research Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. They perform research to enhance continuing care for individuals in recovery from alcohol and other substance use disorders. SMART's Research Directors have approved this study on the role of happiness in recovery. One of the reasons for conducting this study is that in treating addiction and researching ways to support recovery from addiction, we often focus on the negative -- we know much less about the role positive emotions and experiences play in the process of recovery.  To fill this gap, we are seeking input from persons in recovery via the online survey found here.  Survey completion takes about 15 minutes, and is completely anonymous.
Seeking Regional Coordinators
Help grow and support SMART Recovery

Are you an experienced facilitator and feel you can help others in the facilitator role?  Would you like to see more meetings in your region and have some time and energy to help bring more meetings to the people who need them?  Then you might enjoy working with a team of others who are as committed to those goals in the organization as you!  Take a look at the Regional Coordinator information on page 8 of the News & Views and consider this new role, or simply find out who YOUR Regional Coordinator is in case you would benefit from some extra guidance!
