Brazil Minerals, Inc.'s Gold and Diamond Mine Doubles Processing Shifts

BELO HORIZONTE, BRAZIL - (Marketwired - Aug 27, 2014) - Brazil Minerals, Inc. (OTCQB: BMIX), (the “Company” or “BMIX”), a U.S. holding company with revenues from gold and diamonds, announced today that its subsidiary, Mineração Duas Barras Ltda. (“MDB”), had hired additional mine workers to be able to process for gold and diamonds every day of the year, including weekends and holidays. MDB operates an open pit mine and its plant is the largest alluvial processing plant for gold and diamonds in Latin America.

Under the work plan started this week, the gold and diamond processing and recovery plant now runs with two teams of workers, each team working for four days at a time and then rotating with the other team. This allows the plant to run every calendar day, producing gold and diamonds from gravel mined nearby by MDB’s excavation team. The excavation team remains with one team of workers during the workweek. One day of excavation generates two to five days of materials for the recovery plant.

'Scary' correction is coming: Analyst

The Fed's low interest rates could bring a "scary" 50-60 percent market correction, technical analyst Abigail Doolittle told CNBC on Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, I think it could come on a crash similar to what happened in 2007," the founder of Peak Theories Research said on "Squawk Box" a day after the S&P 500 closed above the 2,000 level for the first time ever. "It's tough to know what the exact catalyst will be. But that's the very nature of that kind of selloff. They start slowly and then happen very suddenly."

Doolittle pointed to a 20-year chart of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. "When we take the long-term chart of the Dow ... we see that it's trading in a multiyear trading range, hitting up on resistance. What makes this so important [is] you can see that the entire bull market trend over the past five years has started to reverse."

The strange dynamic that’s guiding stocks higher

The S&P 500's surge past the 2,000 level this week for the first time ever is just the latest milestone for the great rally that stocks have enjoyed over the past 5½ years. But Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices, doesn't think the latest splashy market headlines will do anything to bring in the many retail investors who have long been staying on the sidelines.

Individual investors are "still nervous, they're concerned," Silverblatt said on CNBC's "Futures Now" on Tuesday. "Even though we're into this rally over five years now, and they're getting very little if they're sitting in a bank or some alternatives, they are not moving back into the market." And he said the S&P's crossing of 2,000 won't lure retail investors.
