The Role of School Boards as Community Leaders and Advocates for Schools
Ohio State University-The Fawcett Center

2/23 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
2/24 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

The role of school boards as community leaders and advocates for schools requires the development of clear and simple messages regarding the core business of schools and the beliefs that guide the district. This is why it is so important that the role of school boards be redefined. Indeed, redefining the role of school boards may be the key to transforming schools into learning organizations.

During this experience, school board teams will learn the Message House technique to collaborate around developing collective community messages and to refine their community advocacy work in order to improve the clarity of the core business of schools. Hear from John Tanner, founder of Test Sense, on the issue of community-based accountability. He will be available to consult with school boards that need his advice.
