The incident took place in the historic Largo Porta Bologna area of Modena, Italy.

According to multiple reports:

The vehicle deliberately rammed into a group of pedestrians.
It vehicle then crashed into a clothing store on Via Emilia Centro.
The driver exited the vehicle and stabbed at least one passerby and was arrested by police shortly afterward
The driver is reported to be an Italian citizen of North African (Maghrebi) origin.
At least 7–12 people injured (some critical)
