Renewed US-Iran Strikes / Retaliation Threats
September 1, 2026
US CENTCOM began strikes at 1200 ET against IRGC targets near the Strait of Hormuz (Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, Chabahar, Jask, Sirik) after IRGC attempts to mine the waterway and attack US forces. Sunday’s limited US strike on Larak Island launchers preceded Iranian missiles at Jordan bases (intercepted) and tanker hits.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi vowed “severe punishment” and said the US “will regret its new attacks.” Senior Iranian sources threatened a response “many times greater” against US regional bases and interests. President Trump warned of “much harder” follow-on strikes if Tehran retaliates.
Assessment: Tit-for-tat cycle is restarting after a month-long lull. Priority watch items for LE/intel: IRGC/proxy targeting of US personnel and energy infrastructure; possible directed plots or facilitation networks in the homeland; Hormuz disruption driving energy-market and maritime risk.

Event: Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation.
Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.
Check your flight’s departure status with the airline directly or through:
Americans traveling to or from the region should monitor information about airport and airline operations.
U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.
Operating Status
The U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and Embassy Branch Office Tel Aviv consular sections are both open for routine and emergency consular services.

Know the location of your closest shelter or protected space .

Be aware of your surroundings.
Avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings.
Avoid all areas where there is a heavy police presence.
Monitor local media.
Follow the instructions of local authorities.
