SITREP: US-Iran Conflict
As of 24 July 2026
US forces continue sustained operations against Iranian military targets for a 13th consecutive night, striking command nodes, drone facilities, coastal surveillance, and maritime assets to secure commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian air defenses activated over eastern Tehran amid reports of hostile tracks. Over 50,000 US personnel remain postured in theater.
A major airbridge has reactivated, with C-17 Globemasters and heavy-lift aircraft surging from U.S. and European bases to the region, delivering arms, munitions, and equipment. Concurrently, ~~75 KC-135 Stratotankers are concentrated in Israel, with additional aircraft inbound, enabling extended-range strike packages.
Naval forces exceed 20 warships, including carrier strike groups centered on USS Abraham Lincoln and USS George H.W. Bush, plus amphibious assets, are maneuvering across the Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf approaches, and adjacent waters.
These movements indicate deliberate force generation and logistical sustainment consistent with preparations for expanded operations.

Event: Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation.
Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions. Some airlines in the region have postponed resumption of earlier flight schedules; others have cancelled some routes.
Check your flight’s departure status with the airline directly or through:
Americans outside the Middle East should reconsider travel to and through the region. Those who do travel to or from the region should monitor information about airport and airline operations.
U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.
On February 27, 2026, the Department of State authorized the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and family members of U.S. government personnel from Mission Israel due to safety risks.
Operating Status
The U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and Embassy Branch Office Tel Aviv consular sections are both open for routine and emergency consular services.
