Police say the large law enforcement presence and lockdown at the school was the result of an "unfounded rumor."


"Out of an abundance of caution, CMHS (Crete-Monee High School) went into a red lockdown until we could investigate the situation. The local police department has been onsite to assist. The investigation at CMHS is complete and the rumor was unfounded. Police will remain on the scene and the lockdown has been lifted. We request that parents and guardians allow for a smooth dismissal."
