UK Foreign Office warns citizens against all travel within 10 miles of the Pak / Afghanistan border, and within 5 miles of the Pak / India border. Monitoring..

According to Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, there are ~ 50,000 US citizens residing in the country. The actual number may vary over time due to various factors, including returns to the US, new migrations, and the transient nature of expatriate work. Some of these individuals are Pakistani-Americans who have returned to Pakistan.


In lieu of USGOV guidance following the earlier car bombing in Islamabad, this information from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UKFCDO) is forwarded as a courtesy.

FCDO advises against all travel to within 10 miles of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.


Pakistan-India Border Area

FCDO advises against all travel within 5 miles of the international border between Pakistan and India except the Grand Trunk highway to India via Wagah border (which is currently closed).
