Authorized Departure of Family Members and Some Non-Emergency U.S. Government Employees in Mission Israel

June 15, 2025

Location: Israel, West Bank, and Gaza

Event: On June 14, 2025, the U.S. Department of State authorized the voluntary departure of family members and some non-emergency U.S. government employees in Mission Israel. As a result of the current security situation and ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, the U.S. Embassy has directed that all U.S. government employees and their family members continue to shelter in place until further notice.

U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and the Embassy Branch Office in Tel Aviv remain open and continue to provide emergency consular services.

Actions to Take:

U.S. citizens who wish to depart should not delay in taking advantage of commercial transportation options. Before doing so, U.S. citizens should consult the Israel Home Front Command guidance. U.S. citizens with planned travel to Israel and the West Bank should reconsider those plans due to armed conflict, terrorism, and civil unrest. U.S. citizens should not travel to Gaza for any reason due to terrorism and armed conflict.

Ben Gurion Airport is currently closed. There are limited flights available from Jordan. Land crossings to Jordan are currently operating and are scheduled to be open on Sunday, June 15, with the following hours:

  • Allenby/King Hussein Bridge: 0800 – 1430.

  • The Northern (Jordan River/Sheikh Hussein) crossing: 0830 -1430.

  • The Southern (Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba) crossing: 0800 -2000

Please check the status of Ben Gurion Airport and the land crossings here.
