Security increasing around the US Capitol in adv of the Nat'l Memorial Day Concert on 5/25. Anticipate road closures and security screenings. More via email.

Anyone attending the event on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol must go through a security screening before entering the event area. This includes an administrative search of all bags, coolers, backpacks, and closed containers.


A list of prohibited items and road closures for this event can be found on the U.S. Capitol Police website.



While there are no known threats targeting this event, law enforcement is on high alert given recent incidents such as the vehicle ramming attacks in New Orleans and Vancouver, as well as last week's car bombing in Palm Springs.


Attendees are urged to maintain an increased level of security awareness when in large crowds or near unsecured thoroughfares.
