Supplemental Info:
DHS has assigned the event a SEAR Level-1 status, which signifies events with national and/or international importance that require extensive federal interagency support. This designation is reserved for events of the highest national significance and enables the federal government to provide the full range of law enforcement and security resources necessary to support local officials in ensuring a safe and successful event.
SEAR events are voluntarily submitted special events, which are sent to the DHS Office of Operations Coordination (OPS) by state, local, and federal officials for a risk assessment. Other examples of submitted events have included the Super Bowl, Indianapolis 500, and the Kentucky Derby.
A law enforcement intelligence memo reports that "violent extremists and unaffiliated lone offenders may view the memorial service or related events as attractive attack targets due to the attendance of these individuals, other senior U.S. government officials, state and local government officials, and political activists and due to major international media attention."
Federal agencies were already “tracking several threats of unknown credibility” ahead of the funeral, which will be attended by President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials. One man has already been arrested at the site for impersonating a police officer. He was armed with a pistol and knife. Expect "TSA-level screening" at the event. Protesters are expected to be present. Doors open at 8:00am. Program begins at 11:00.
If you are located in the area:
