AlertsUSA again warns that many, but not all, attacks by the Islamic State in Western countries have been preceded by the release of propaganda posters and other public threats. Caution and vigilance are urged if you live in or are traveling to these locations, and in particular, during the end-of-year holidays.

Possible Meanings of the Lion's Head in the Background:

1. The Islamic State frequently referes to jihadists as "lions" and in particular, those who have or will die in battle.

2. The Lions of the Caliphate battalion was a foreign fighter group based in the port city of Latakia, Syria and led by an Egyptian, Abu Muadh al-Masri. In November 2013, the group issued a formal pledge of allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
