The following announcement was made a short time ago by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal in a post to the 'X' social media platform:
"Following the attack in Moscow, a Defense and National Security Council was convened this evening at the Elysee by the President of the Republic. Given the Islamic State's claim of responsibility for the attack and the threats weighing on our country, we have decided to raise the Vigipirate posture to its highest level: attack emergency."

About the Vigipirate
The Vigipirate is aimed at indicating the vigilance of the nation in the face of the terrorist threat, and, if needed, putting the country on alert in the face of a situation involving a verified threat or an attack that has been carried out. It covers only national territory and the DOM-COM (Départements et Collectivités d’Outre-Mer – Overseas Départements and Authorities). It is determined by the Prime Minister following the assessment of the terrorist threat made by the crossover between the threat and vulnerabilities.
The Vigipirate is composed of three levels:
