Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh and Salam Sejahtera.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to all MFA members for the exceptional support towards the association. We sincerely appreciate the support given to MFA throughout these years and we look forward to your onward continues support.

MFA’s team have been working tirelessly for the benefit of its members especially in highlighting issues, challenges as well as becoming the voice of the industry and getting the Government’s due considerations, assistance, support and endorsement. Moving with 2018, we will strive and continue working harder and positively, to move forward for the future of franchise industry.

Our immediate aspiration and focus is to strengthen relations with members and hope to bring in more value proposition with much more activities, events and networking activities. Thus, we have lined up various programs and activities to be participated by members for their benefit as well as for the public. These programs are created to help the members to elevate themselves to an excellence level in the area of franchising business as well as to build a better relationship among the franchise fertinity both locally and internationally.

I would like to encourage all members to participate in programs organize by MFA throughout the year such as Franchise International Malaysia 2018 (FIM 2018) Exhibition and Conference, Malaysia Franchise Awards 2018 (MFA 2018), Franchise Training Programs (FTP), Enhanced Franchise Development Program (EFDP), Franchise Trade & Study Missions and many more.

In short, with all the experience and supports, MFA being a NGO is able to connect the industry player’s related Government Agencies and International Franchise bodies to elevate our homegrown franchise to international market place. This includes assistance in terms of national and international relations, relations between various ministries, agencies, financial institutions, and other NGO’s. To achieve this further, let’s put our efforts and hand’s together by working and planning a workable strategy and strengthen the existing mutual relationship to a greater height.

Therefore, we are open and welcome constructive ideas and any views deemed fit to assist MFA members in addressing current and future challenges to ensure the interest of the members are well maintained and taken into due considerations at all times.

Once again, I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all MFA members for supporting our ideas and the thought for implementing improvement. We appreciate your commitment and strong support since the inception of MFA.

FIM 2018 is the largest annual franchising exhibition and conference in Southeast Asia and the only franchise event officially sanctioned by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives & Consumerism (KPDNKK) and Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA). 

Attaining its 25th year pinnacle with proven organizing track records, the FIM is a melting pot of local and international franchise players into a world full of opportunities. It will assemble main players in the franchise sector from all around the world to discuss current franchise issues and focusing franchise as a key strategy in developing entrepreneurship in Malaysia especially in retail and service sectors.

For this year’s FIM 2018, MFA targets of potential investment transactions worth RM370 million. With 120 booths comprise of local franchisors, master franchisees and other agencies including 20 per cent of international francise brands from 12 countries have confirmed their participation in this event. We expect the three-day event will attract over 10,000 visitors.

Franchise In-Buying Mission is another new value added programs introduced for this year FIM2018, with the main objective to assists our local franchise brands to penetrate international market. We will bring in international franchise investors from several countries such as Hungary, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam and to business match them with our local franchisors during FIM2018. This is a collaborative effort between MFA & MATRADE under the Enhanced Franchise Development Program (EFDP) initiatives.


Enhanced Franchise Development Program (EFDP) have four core activities which comprise Infrastructure Development, Research & Education, Marketing and Promotion as well as Financial support. For 2018, MFA members will enjoy more privileges and benefits through Financial support offered under FORWARD & FAST programs.

McDonald’s® first restaurant in Malaysia opened at Jalan Bukit Bintang, KL. In December 1988, McDonald’s® opened its first Drive-Thru restaurant at Jalan Pahang (Titiwangsa) and First McCafé® in Malaysia opened at McDonald’s® Kota Damansara in June 2012. This year, McDonald’s® marks its 36th Anniversary in Malaysia.  Based on updates, MC'D has not offered a franchise opportunity in the Malaysian peninsula, but they still open a franchise opportunity in Sabah and Sarawak.

Firestation Fitness was founded by Mr.Dave Nuku on september 2015 and started with the creation of the FIRE Trainer, a patented piece of fitness equipment that allows users to leverage their own body weight as a form of strength training. They already have 21 trainers in total and they have 6 effective training activities.Firestation Fitness has two outlets in Malaysia located at Jalan Batai Kuala Lumpur and Plaza Mont Kiara Kuala Lumpur. They also already has one outlet in Singapore located at Tanjong Pagar Road Singapore. They intend to open Firestation Fitness outlets in several countries including Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.They also plan to expand their business through the franchise concept with roughly setup around 170-250 thousand.

Besides, they were also briefed on the available grants and incentives offered by MATRADE, SME Corp and the Enhanced Franchise Development Program managed by MFA.
