The downside of the increasing popularity of this newsletter is that the competition is watching... closely. When I get the inside line on a deal, I can't reveal too much, lest it be snatched out from under my loyal clients.

In the news this week, a couple of noteworthy items:

Most US homes are still worth less than before the crash. However, the variations by region are enormous. Phoenix remains at pre-crash levels, which bodes well for our future rate of appreciation. I'll take slow and steady over the "excitement" of 40% annual appreciation.

AirBNB rental nightmare is a good reminder of the risks of renting out your home. Take all precautions, including adequate insurance, and don't just rely on AirBNB to make things right.
