Welcome to Day 4 of the Rise Of You Challenge!
We are so excited to you are continuing. You are AWESOME for making yourself a priority!
Are you ready to roll? Cool, let’s get started.
While
this might seem like I'm pushing it a bit (any positive change no
matter how small is positive), I lean towards the bigger and bolder
myself. I believe in the possibility of transformation. However, as they
say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Regrettably, too many
individuals get side tracked by the size of the goals or undertaking
itself. They center on the big gap between where they are today and
where they would like to be. That’s precisely where they shouldn’t be
focusing their attention.
Successes or goals aren't built by daily
longing for a goal that's in the distance. It’s in creating and
celebrating the little wins we can reach along the way.
Too
frequently we minimize our progress or even talk ourselves out of it for
the sake of guilt, unworthiness, or ill-conceived modesty.
Why
are we taking the wind out of our own sails rather than leveraging our
daily successes towards continuing motivation and our small triumphs? This is a mistake that happens too often.
Well,
positive outcomes depend on positive changes and actions. Small
changes are all that is needed to get things rolling and get you started
on the right path to change.
Especially when it comes to recognizing small victories when it comes to making changes towards courage and confidence.
By
taking small steps and having small victories when it comes to
achieving goals, it has the added effect of boosting our confidence.
A Small Example
Here’s just one example of a small change that can potentially make a big difference in your life.
Switch complaining for
feeling grateful and watch your life change.
Irrespective of your
present circumstances, there are individuals who would trade places with
you in a minute. Make it a daily routine to feel grateful for things
like your good health, your work, your loved ones. Each evening, before
you go to bed, think about just one, greatest thing that happened to you
that day and say “thank you, thank you, thank you.” This practice truly
altered my life- I began noticing and accepting all these amazing
things that I used to take for granted. If you exercise gratitude every
day, for a month, I promise that you’ll notice your life change.
Steps To Small Changes
Now your turn… define small changes that can lead to big differences in your personal life to help you feel great about yourself which will in turn help you feel more confident.
Being specific
with this step is just as important as it was in the last step. So make
sure you use the tips from the previous day to be specific when you are
coming up with your small changes.
It’s important to consider making changes that can easily be formed into positive habits.
Using Meditation
One positive habit I’d like you to put in to place is doing meditations for positive change.
Scientists have found that mindfulness meditation is linked with actual physical changes in the brain.
If
you center your thoughts, words, and actions on producing more positive
energy, your life will improve in ways you now think are impossible.
Everything in your life and everybody in your path will move to a higher
plane of vibration.
How amazing would it be to transform into a
positive energy beacon, beaming beautiful light everyplace you go,
everything you do — utilizing your higher state of vibration to make the
world a better place and yourself a better person?
Work with one small change at a time.
Today’s exercise will help you get started.
**To-do: **
Small Change Meditation Exercise:
Begin with a simple breathing meditation to quiet your mind. Then,
think about the many disadvantages of the one small thing you want to
change. Recall an experience when “this thing” arose in your mind or
when someone displayed this with you. How did it feel?
Don’t stay
glued to the feeling or become absorbed by the negativity.
Instead, just
know it’s there then start thinking about all the many advantages of
practicing “the new change.” Think about how it would feel if “the new
change” is in effect or of others are showing you the same.
As the contemplation continues, a natural conclusion will come to mind, maybe something like, “I really don’t want to “do xyz”
anymore. It makes me feel terrible. From now on, I’ll watch for “this
thing” rising up in my mind and practice “the new change” instead!”
Then, try to fill your mind with this thought for the rest of the meditation. Other
thoughts will almost certainly drift into your consciousness. Once you
realize you’ve strayed away from the focus of your meditation, just
lightly return to your concentration on “the new change.”
Rinse and repeat for each new, small change.
Don't
forget to write down your steps in your success log and share your
feeling, comments or questions about this step in the group. :-)
