Prayer for Lent
O God, bless us during this season of spiritual renewal. Fill our minds and hearts with love, that we may be a sign of Jesus to all those living in our midst.
Amen.
Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat all others, as if they are Christ in disguise. They are "charitable actions by which we help our neighbors in their bodily needs." The Corporal Works respond to the basic needs of humanity as we journey together through this life.
The seven Corporal Works of Mercy are as follows:
1. Feed the Hungry
2. Give Drink to the thirsty
3. Shelter for the homeless
4. Visit the sick
5. Visit the prisoners
6. Bury the dead
7 Give alms to the poor
We can incorporate these Corporal Works of Mercy into our Lenten season of reconciliation for our sins through acts of kindness to our neighbors.
