Day 6 of 9: Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena.

The Divine Mercy Chaplet may be repeated over a period of 9 days as part of a novena. According to Saint Faustina’s Diary, Jesus, Himself, in a vision to Saint Faustina, asked that the Divine Mercy Novena be prayed as a preparation for the Feast of the Divine Mercy, celebrated each year on the First Sunday following Easter. The Novena should begin on Good Friday. There is a prayer intention for a specific group of people on each of the nine days. We will pray the 9-day Divine Mercy Novena as outlined below. We will send the prayer outline each of the nine days for your ease in praying it with your families.
Begin the Chaplet on the short strand of the rosary bead as follows:
1. Sign of the Cross
2. Prayer Petition: Meek and humble of heart, and children
3. On the first large bead, First Opening Prayer as follows: You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up to the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
4. Still on the first large bead, repeat this opening prayer three times in succession as follows: O, Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
5. On the first small bead, pray The Lord’s Prayer
6. On the second small bead, pray Hail Mary
7. On the third small bead, pray The Apostle’s Creed
8. For each of the 5 decades of the Rosary, follow this prayer pattern:
a. On the large bead, pray Eternal Father: Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
b. For each of the following ten small beads, repeat: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
9. Conclude on the medallion, pray: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world
10. Still on the medallion, pray: Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion—inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your Mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

The Divine Mercy promise as Jesus spoke to Saint Faustina in her vision: “Speak to the world about My Mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fount of My Mercy; let them profit from the blood and water which gushed forth for them"
