Today we remember the passion and death of Jesus Christ.
The Friday before Easter has been observed as a day of sorrow, fasting, and penance from the earliest days of Christianity.
This is such an important day, because Christ gave his life as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.
"Even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28).
This day is the most somber, solemn, and heart-wrenching day of the year; the day we remember our Lord's Passion.
Yet, Christ did not despair, and neither did Mary.
So neither shall we!
Instead, rejoice in the greatest act of love given to humanity! Offer up fasting and penance today out of reparation for the sins that mankind still commits against Him.
