Mother Virginia Beretta, Saint Gianna's youngest sister, celebrated her 100th birthday on August 6, 2025, surrounded by her family members. Virginia Beretta, like her sister Gianna, attended medical school, but then entered the order of Canossian Daughters of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious institute founded by St. Magdalene of Canossa in Verona, Italy, in 1808.
She was sent to India where she treated patients suffering from leprosy. As divine providence would have it, Virginia returned to Italy and was with her sister, Gianna, at the time of her death.
Mother Virginia now lives in Bergamo, northern Italy, and helps spread testimony about her sister saint. The photo of her birthday shows the children of Saint Gianna: Dr. Gianna Emanuela Molla in pink; Pierluigi in the very back, tall with glasses; and Laura, third woman from the right whose face is partially hidden.
May God Bless You and Your Loved Ones!
