Your Update from The D&P

No sign of things cooling off very much, it seems, but the holidays are here! People are out and about and the World Cup is now just a memory, which means it’s time to get out of your armchair and mosey down to the D&P for some great live music!!!

Here we go...
MARCHINGTON MUSIC CLUB
(SUNDAYS FROM 5.30PM)
THOMAS FORD
SUNDAY 12TH AUGUST

"it's astonishing when you realise that all these sounds, the guitar, harmonica, percussion, vocals...they all come from one man. This is great stuff."   Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2.

Howling one man blues band Thomas Ford is from the South West of the UK. He has been playing sold out shows at some of Europe's biggest and best known blues, jazz and roots music festivals for the last 5 years or so, having established a large following in the UK.

Recent stages include Cognac Blues Passions (FR), Moulin Blues (NL), Hometown (GE), Blues sur Seine (FR) and RDV L'Erdre (FR) - where, in 2013, Thomas won the international Tremplin blues competition, becomming the first winner in its 25 year history to be awarded all 6 prizes (headline spots at other festivals in France). He was also the first solo artist to win this prestigious competition.

His self-penned self-penned blues songs are observant, cynical, loaded with humour, inuendo and rooted in delta blues tradition. His virtuoso bottleneck guitar playing and raucous rack-mounted harmonica are complemented by foot stomped percussion and vocals which are shouted, spat and snarled from an otherwise reserved mouth.

"a one man blues cyclone – a 6 foot 4, Delta guitar picking, blues shouting giant and fire-breathing harmonica colossus. Astonishing audiences with his box fresh, self-penned solid gold blues renditions, his fine recorded works have graced the airwaves from Luton to Laos, his travels have taken him from Birmingham to Bucharest. Hailed as THE ‘rising star of British blues’ and it’s very, very easy to hear why" John Drummond

KEV ANDREWS SUNDAY 19TH AUGUST 5.30PM

Credited for discovering and writing on the first album of UK soul singer James Morrison, Kev Andrews solo performances demonstrate a mastery of the guitar drawing comparisons to the Likes of Tommy Emmanuel, Martin Taylor and the Spanish guitar of Paco De Lucia.
