RICHARD CASTLE (TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!)

LOCAL BOY DONE GOOD
(Thursday April 19th 8pm)

Home grown talent!! Richard Castle joins us on Thursday April 19th to show off his debut solo CD release!

We be playing back the album on the night and we might even get Richard to knock out a few tunes!

It’s free admission and the fun starts around 8pm-ish!

Richard Castle’s new solo album comes straight from the heart of a young man living bang in the middle of rural England. From tales of zany characters tearing up market towns, to battling inner demons and a healthy mistrust of the establishment, One-horse Town is a satirical but sincere journey through Castle’s over-active psyche.

TwoManTing
(Sunday 29th April)

Biog:

TwoManTing was formed in 2004 when Sierra Leonean drummer Jah-man Aggrey, and guitarist Jon Lewis were playing together as part of dance band, Le Cod Afrique, at venues such as Montreux Jazz Festival and WOMAD.

The duo immediately became a hit on the UK festival circuit with their brand of bouncy “Sunshine Afro-roots”. Shows have included Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Beat-herder and Green Man Festivals to name but a few. Using guitar, live loops and percussion the duo creates a highly danceable full band sound and their reputation has earned them recent support slots with the likes of Tinariwen, The Oyster Band, Edward 2 and Dub Colossus. Their music is often featured on BBC Radio 3 and 6Music.

Shows feature palm-wine, acoustic dub and highlife grooves with thoughtful and thought-provoking lyrics on subjects ranging from childhood memories, political protest and er….duvets.

“Brilliant – if you want a bit of early summer, then get this into your ear-holes!”

(Lauren Laverne, BBC 6Music)

“Full of such bright tuneful moments, this really takes off in an intimate live setting” (fRoots Magazine)

“John Peel would play something like this on his programme and the world would suddenly seem a better place”

(Steve Lamacq, BBC 6Music)

STEREOSONICS

As reported last week the Stereosonics gig has been re-scheduled for Saturday November 10th following a last minute hospital appointment scheduled for around the time of the original date. Purchased tickets are valid or a refund can be obtained from point of purchase, which leads on nicely to….

THE JAM’D
(Saturday June 9th 7.30pm. Marchington Village Hall)

The last Village Hall event before the holiday season and promises to be a good one, what better than some raucous angst from one of pop’s favourite trios and a bit of solo Weller thrown into the mix for good measure!

Here’s what the papers had to say…..

Widely regarded now as the Uk’s most authentic and leading tribute to The Jam, The Jam’d are totally committed to giving an unforgettable, authentic performance with all the energy, passion and style of the Woking 3.

As full time touring professional musicians, and massive Jam fans themselves, the band don’t “try to be” or “pretend to be” The Jam, but rather put on a performance from the heart and soul, drawing on all their memories, experiences and love of what was the country’s biggest band in their day.

Gigging up and down the UK at outdoor festivals, scooter rallies and some of the UK’s top tribute venues & events! The show also includes the only replica of Rick Bucklers ‘Great White’ drum kit & features their own brass section!……You won’t be disappointed!

Every effort is placed into reproducing the sound, arrangements and energy of a Jam gig. Those who saw The Jam live will remember the electricity, aggression, passion, and even fashion on stage, something not always prevalent in today’s world, but to The Jam’d, it is a passion, a mission, and an honour to play for fans of “the best band in the f#@*ing world!”
