Subject: Your Update from The Dog & Partridge

This Week's Update
Hi there,

Another week, another letter and yes, the rumours are true, MARK ALEXANDER the prodigal chef is about to return! He is landing on Friday 23 September after a short six months sojourn up in Lincolnshire.
We will be holding a ‘RETURN OF THE MAC (where’s our going away present rebate’) drinks party for him on Friday 30 September at 9 pm onwards with a few nibbles etc. Becky and I get back from holiday that evening and we want to join in the fun hence the slightly late start.

Here is a picture to remind you what he looks like if you’ve forgotten over the past 6 months, and just to show how very photogenic he is!

Come on down and join the fun on the 30th!

FOOD

NEW MENU
We would like to thank our out-going chef Hani for his input into the new menu and we will be incorporating some of its good points into yet another menu which is being complied as we speak. Watch this space. Meantime do come and take advantage of the current menu which has many dishes you probably won’t have tried. 01283 820394

CHRISTMAS DAY
Over two thirds full so now would be the time to make that booking before all places are taken. This year we are taking payments in full by the end of October. 01283 820394

CHRISTMAS FAYRE
Same as last year, Christmas items will sit alongside our regular menu from 1 December. Items will be individual priced to allow diners to choose that they like and also how many courses they would like. We will however offer a set menu on request for large party bookings.
Marchington Music Club

This week sees the return of favourites STRAIGHT BENDS

Acoustic Pop Rock delivered with a large dollop of humour.

Real Music Real Ale Real Gigs…

The Straight Bends of today in acoustic fashion revisit songs of their youth mixed with more contemporary music and original compositions with the added twist of the sounds and nuances of Mick Doyle’s mandolin, Mandocello and Banjolater*, which not only adds an originality to the songs but also creates a visual spectacle when Mick has to swap instruments between songs!

Combine this with a collective sense of humour that quite honestly has left some people puzzled and perplexed in the extreme, plus a growing reputation as Agony Uncles for Straight Benders (as the followers of Straight Bends are known) you have a melting pot of musical mayhem which is all accomplished while sitting down.

So with songs from artists as diverse as Kate Rusby, Alan Hull, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, The Cure, REM, Sting, Santana, The Stranglers and The Sex Pistols you will find something for everyone….

*It’s the same as a banjo but he plays it later on!

Straight Bends (formed in 2014) have a heritage stretching back to the late 70’s and therefore are definitely not a boy band! Ask Matron!

Mick Doyle, Mike Emery and Andy Cooper have been seen and heard in numerous bands over the years. The most notable (in chronological order) being Derby’s Midnight Express (Mike – in the days when he had the ability to pogo!) Straight Bends (Andy and Mike when it was a progressive heavy rock band…yes really!). The ever popular No Right Turn (Mick and Andy in the original line up and Mike appearing in a later reincarnation of the band that saw the birth of Off the Tracks) Neverland and SwampTrash (Mick and Andy) plus others that age has dimmed with time!

Fun commences at 5.30pm as always this coming Sunday 11th September!
