Happy New Year (belated)
Hi there,

Back from my travels and it’s back to work.

Firstly hello to new members to the mailing list, you join us at a good time as we have a very busy year ahead!

The weekly Mailout takes a general format and goes as follows (for the new members it generally takes this format)

Marchington Music Club

New to the music club (which incidentally celebrated three years last week in my absence) this coming Sunday we are happy to welcome NIGHTWIRES!

Russell Meek – Vocals
Simon Clements – Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Vocals, keyboards

First got together over a decade ago, when they formed the UK based rock band, 3 Ring Circus.3 Ring Circus played gigs all over the country and released 3 albums (the first with national distribution via Nova Bomb/Lockjaw) They also undertook acoustic tours of the USA in 2007 and again in 2008 when one of their sets at a West Coast Songwriters event, was voted best performance of the night by Grammy Award Winning producer Michael Silversher. This success lead the duo to make some decisions…So in 2011, Russell and Simon decided they wanted to pursue the acoustic direction fully and so, The Nightwires were formed. The duo have continued to tour all over the country and their eponymous debut album, was released in 2013. "The Nightwires" saw them being compared favourably to Ryan Adams, REM and Neil Young! Produced by the band in their Derby based studio, “The Nightwires” continued to show their ear for the melancholic, heartfelt melodies and highlights the continued development of their songwriting craft.

Fast forward to 2015, and the duo have just released their second album “Life of Sound” The album harks back to their rockier roots, whilst still retaining their melodic sensibilities. Again self produced by the duo, they have been playing to packed gigs in support of the album.

“Overall, this album is definitely worth checking out if you’re into soft rock and acoustic songs. The vocals are mesmerizing, and these guys are so talented it’s unbelievable. I can definitely see them going paces, especially with this album. Props to The Nightwires for making such a killer album. I’m usually really picky with music like this, but these are great!

Sunday 24TH 5.30 PM

My Birthday Bash

People have been quizzing me about the gig the following week the 31st January which happens to fall close to my birthday, so I thought we’d do something a bit special and mix it up a bit, so I have a fews friends to pop along, mainly people who have impressed me on our end of the month unplugged night (last Tuesday of every month) and put together a bit of a gang show if you will.

It will be a bit of fun and it starts around 5.30 pm, the line up I may tell you something about next week, there will be nibbles too!!

Oddly falls on a Sunday this year, not sure if this will take on the usual format, I imagine the more romantic of us will opt for the Saturday evening to celebrate as couples and the Sunday be the usual family affair?
CANCER RESEARCH NIGHT
