Change Your Outbound Caller ID

Customize the Way Your Caller ID is Displayed to Your Customers

Your identity on the phone can be the first impression a potential client or customer has of your business. Make sure your Caller ID displays the information that you want to represent your business. With the highly customization RingByName business phone solution, you can change the caller ID to whatever you wish it to be. Whether it be a personal, company, home, or custom number you can select what you would like each person to see.

How to Change or Customize Your Caller ID

You can choose to display any of the following Caller ID types.

My Direct Number - your personal direct number 

My Company Number - you can choose any telephone number associated with your company that is not already assigned to an individual 

Custom Caller ID - with few restrictions, RingByName will display any telephone number and name you desire as your outbound caller ID. This is helpful when you are porting in numbers from a different company and do not want to display your assigned temporary number.

You will also see an option "Show the Caller ID of the Person Calling" - this option will display the Caller ID of the person calling your RingByName number instead of your office number on all calls transferred to your mobile device or other landline when selected.

- Log in to your RingByName account at login.ringbyname.com
- Once logged in, click on the words 'Hi <Your Name>' at the top right of the screen. A drop down menu should appear.
- From that drop down menu, select 'My Caller ID'
- Be sure to select 'Save' on the bottom right to complete your changes!
How to Setup Caller ID for Multiple Users (Admin Only)

There are two types of users, Admin and Regular, each with different permissions and access. While both user types will give you access to the RingByName applications, only the Admin will allow you to customize or change multiple user ID's at once. 

- Log in to your RingByName account at login.ringbyname.com
- Once logged in, click on the words 'Hi ' at the top right of the screen. A drop down menu should appear.
- Select the option 'Go To System Administration'
- Select 'RingByName Setup' at the top.
- Select 'Users' on the left hand side' 
- Click on 'Set Outbound Caller ID for multiple users' at the center-bottom of the page.
- On the far right, you'll see all the fields you can edit for mutiple users
- Be sure to select 'Save' on the bottom right to complete your changes!
How to Change my Caller ID in the Mobile Application

To change the caller ID settings click the icon on the top left of the screen and choose "My Caller ID." From there choose from My Direct Number and My Company Number and insert the number you wish to appear. From this section of the mobile application you can also choose to see the Caller ID of the person calling on transferred calls to your mobile device.
