Business SMS (Texting) from RingByName

What is SMS Service?

SMS stands for Short Message Service and is also commonly referred to as a "text message". With an SMS, you can send a message of up to 160 characters to another device. Longer messages will automatically be split up into several parts. Most cell phones support this type of text messaging.
There is No Cost to add SMS Text Messaging to an Existing Direct and  Company Number on Your Account
How do I add SMS Texting Service to my RingByName Account?

Check with your system administrator to make sure that SMS is enabled and active on your account, and that you have been granted access to access SMS service. If you are the account owner, you can view if SMS is already available to your company and direct numbers by going to system administration.

How does the SMS Text Message work?

1) On the home page, locate the toolbar on the top of the screen and click on the "SMS" icon to view the SMS Text Messaging page.

2) The SMS Text Messaging screen will display in the middle with the option to view all of the text messages and send new text messages.
3) You can search for a conversation by contact or phone number by typing in the following box.
4) You can search for messages with specific fields by clicking on the dropdown.
5) You can create a new SMS by clicking on the box with a pencil.
Once you click on the box with a pencil you will have the option to search an existing contact or type in the person's phone number you would like to text. Once you do that, you must click on the number highlighted in blue to start typing.

6) After choosing the number you want to send a text message to, you must select what number you would like to use for the customer to reply to you. The number you select will be the number the customer will see on their phone. You have the option to select if you want to text using your direct number or company number.

7) Type your text message on the bar in the bottom and press send when you're done.
8) Once the text message is sent, it will show on the history. On the right side it will display the texts that were sent, and on the left side will display the texts that were received.
What does SMS Text Messaging Cost? How many texts can I send?

There is no cost to add SMS Text Messaging to an existing company number on your account. You can send and receive unlimited SMS messages within the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

If you would like to add additional SMS number on your account, simply purchase an add-on company for your business and we'll set it up to receive SMS messages.

Will I receive notifications when a new text message is received?

You will receive notifications for any new text messages for any new SMS-enabled telephone numbers to which your administrator has granted you access. You will also receive notifications for any SMS conversations that you have been assigned as owner. You can opt-in to receive text message notifications via email.

A new message notification icon will appear in the navigation area at the top of the web application showing you a count of new unread text messages.

For Texting Campaigns, to be compliant with CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association)
the following rules should be followed with any ad campaigns sent to your customers.
1. Get consent from your users
2. Send an opt-in confirmation
3. Identify your Brand in your messages
4. Use a private domain for URLs in messages.
5. Be sure your users can opt out of receiving messages.

Any campaign web URLs should be from a single, specific domain.

Each campaign should be associated with a single web domain owned by you, the customer. Although a full domain is preferred, a URL shortener may be used to deliver custom links.

You should avoid common, public or shared domain shorteners. Below is a list of some examples of common URL shorteners you should avoid:

bit.ly
goo.gl
tinyurl.com
Tiny.cc
lc.chat
is.gd
soo.gd
s2r.co
Clicky.me
budurl.com
bc.vc
