Subject: It is that time of year. 14th year cycling for Kids Cancer

Hi Friend

Hard to believe that October has come around again and it is time to cycle for Kids Cancer.

I am now starting out on my 14th year on the Great Cycle Challenge. Donations go to Children's Medical Research Institute here in Australia searching for ways to treat and manage kids cancer. Kids should be living life - not fighting cancer.

The last 12 months have been somewhat lacking in cycling. There is a story - last October (where the spike is in the image below) I felt a bump-bump on back wheel of my Sydney bike as I descended a long hill. No brakes = a cracked rim. I brought the bike back to Sydney and got it fixed straight away. Have not ridden that bike since. Just not comfortable riding from our new apartment - roads are not safe. Just finding it easier to use public transport to get to where I like walking. All the cycling since then has been on my country bike including the March tour

It is called "lacking motivation" or "finding other things to do", including starting to play pickleball. Well I did get out on the country bike this last weekend and rode 3 days in a row. Not done that in a while. And the city bike will get used - plan is to do train - ride - walk days. Use the train to reach safe places to ride and then ride and walk looking for orchids.

And there is a tour planned at the end of the month on South Coast NSW where we have our beach house. I will go down a few days early and recce the routes someone else is planning. That should get the kms up to the target and score some orchids.

You can check out my page and make your donations here

You will notice a great big green bar on top of that page. Matched donations day is early this month - on Wednesday October 7 - feel free to hold off on your kind donations till then. Note - October 7 Australian time.

I will remind you on the day again

Your donation will support Children's Medical Research Institute to develop treatments and find cures for childhood cancers.

Thank you for your support.

Take good care

Mark
