Subject: Close the loop on link tracking - who is buying?

Hi Friend

A story about link tracking - my story - it is a long story which will go into the review later

What I wanted really was link tracker that was totally in my control - my rules and my management. I started using Yourls - it is a self hosted link shortener. That was way back in 2013 - I have my own domains and my own hosting. Process is simple enough - paste in the URL you want shortened and assign a short name - hit enter and the short url is created. Share that around. The tool will track referrers up to a point - direct referrals from the native link and referrals from a website or from a autoresponder sequence. The challenge I was having was the tool only allows one database entry for a target URL. That got me looking for another tool to use alongside - selected ClixTrac to create and manage campaigns for a YOURLS link - set a new ClixTrac link for each of the traffic sources one is using - all aiming at the same core link.

Used consistently between the two tools I could see where traffic was coming from. Where I was struggling (apart from being inconsistent) was in closing the loop on affiliate promotions. I can only guess which traffic is actually clicking buy buttons on the vendor site - a bit easier for autoresponder traffic as I can see which subscriber opens an email and presses a link - then a guess who might have bought.

For the traffic exchange traffic, I am flying blind. Closing the loop would be possible if I can get buyers to a bonus and thank you page that I manage - without asking for an email address to download a bonus.

Of course if one is selling your own products directly the problem is a lot easier - people are interacting on your property and you can track them more readily.

With that background I came to SCT Pro a little bit hopeful but also a bit skeptical. Most tools promise insight, deliver dashboard clutter, and leave migration a nightmare.

SCT Pro Offers some Real-Life Possibilities

1. Email Campaigns: Imagine a small newsletter launch. Using SCT Pro, each link dropped across multiple emails will track exactly which subject line and which link placements actually drove opt-ins and sales. The split testing angle works well for this too.

2. Affiliate Offers: When an affiliate offer changes URLs, it is simple to update the SCT redirect, and every past email, blog post, and social promo instantly started routing to the correct, updated page - no broken links, no lost commissions. If you know what links are changed this is not hard with any link tracker. The beauty here is you only need to change in one place. Monitor your links and change what needs to be changed

3. Sponsor Rotators: Scheduled sponsor’s link changeovers are easy with their timed rotator feature - set-and-forget. Sponsor A’s link swapped for Sponsor B’s exactly when the contract said, everywhere it is ever used. Not got to doing that yet - but now there are tools. The tools offer a range of possibilities - random, sequential, spillover. Way beyond what any link tracker can do

4. Safety Net: Ever had a WordPress hosting outage? Your links powered by SCT Pro will keep working. No more 404s or dead-end links, which would have been a total loss on Pretty Links. Of course this does rely on SCT hosting to keep working - this is where designed by an engineer helps a lot. And because it is a closed system - do not have to worry about plugin hackers.

Now I will not be surprised if all of you are already using a link tracking tool and most of you are not closing the loop. One of my bonuses walks you through how to migrate - strep by step including the key step - when to turn off the old servie when you know it works.
