CLASSES

Song Studio Friday June 27th from 7-9p, taught by Daniel Buchanan

Song Studio: Friday, July 18th from 7-9p

3 spots left!

Did you know that it's free to observe any Song Studio class? It's a great chance to get a feel for the work we do at Resound NW and pick up valuable tips about singing! To observe, send email to us at info@resoundnw.com.

Song Studio is an opportunity for our community to come together through singing and provide a supportive environment to practice performing.  After a period of group singing and warm-up, this class focuses on individual performances from students.

INVESTMENT: $40/class, or observe for free!

Performance Practices: Tuesday August 12 from 7-9p

There's two spots left for the Tuesday July 8th session of Performance Practices! These are one-off classes, so if you're looking for the next seven-week session of Performance Practices, that will take place next Fall.

Performance Practices is a class that helps you navigate the art of performance. You will learn:

  1. Ways to manage performance anxiety

  2. How to communicate with your audience

  3. How to set yourself up for success as a performing artist

To sign up, click the button below. Spots will be given on a first come, first served basis.

STUDIO GATHERINGS

We're delighted to invite you to our next Studio Gathering! Our August 23rd gathering will take place at the picnic shelter in Powell Park, and will feature three sets between 2p and 5p.

Students: if you are interested in performing at our gathering, please get in touch with your teacher, and they can help you sign up!

This is a relaxed, joyful Studio Gathering. Our Studio Gatherings are an opportunity for our students to perform for each other, to share what they are learning in their music lessons, and for friends and family to support their loved ones. Audiences will be invited to join in on the sing-a-long songs!

Come, bring a camp chair and an offering for our potluck table, or simply bring your self. What better way to celebrate the end of summer than by soaking in some tunes sung by our passionate music students??

Good things to note:

WHEN: Saturday August 23rd, 2025 from 2p - 5p. Come and go as you please.

WHERE: Powell Park (at the Picnic Shelter)

WHO: Friends & family and the general public. Our concerts are a great opportunity for prospective students to come and see what we do!

TICKETS: Free! No registration required, just come!

BRING: Something to offer to our Potluck table, if you wish. A snack, main dish, salad, or drink to share is great! Wine is ok, and plates/cups/napkins will be provided.

WEATHER: Portland in August! We're not likely to have rain but...you never know! Luckily, the picnic shelter will provide coverage if it decides to rain. Dress accordingly.

We will see you there!

STAFF/STUDENT EVENTS

Tuesday July 15th

From Studio Admin Caitlin Lushington:

Facilitating Empowered Spaces: A Theatre Educator & Director Workshop

Co-taught by Cambria Herrera and Caitlin Lushington

Tuesday July 15 from 6p – 9p | @ Resound NW
Investment: $60 or Pay What You Will | No one turned away for lack of funds.

Limited spots left!

As a theatre educator or director, we know you want to create an environment where artists can thrive. In this three-hour workshop we will dive into how identity, power, and casting intersect and impact the rehearsal and classroom. Through hands-on exercises and collective conversation, we will navigate the nuances of what ‘empowerment‘ looks like in these spaces, the relationship between facilitator and participant, and gather wisdom on culturally-conscious casting practices. You will walk away with exercises you can implement right away, language to facilitate these conversations with your own students and artists, and a collective of fellow teachers and directors with shared intentions.

July 17 - July 20th

From Resound student Erin Stevanus:

un/seen is a two-part immersive narrative and sound experience exploring endings, beginnings, and the magic woven into everyday life. The first part is an intimate narrative performance blending storytelling with cinematic soundscapes, following three generations of an Asian American family in the wake of a fictional pandemic. Each performance is unique, inviting audiences to perceive everyday magic and consider the choices we might make if we truly knew the time we have left.

The second part, Sonic Sound Exploration, is a live auditory journey under my sound art project moonbabi, blending ambient, natural, and electronic sounds to foster deep listening, reflection, and connection. You can learn more about this creative project below and follow more of my work at rockcitysea.org
