Cartus releases 2012 Trends in Global Relocation Survey results 

SurveyDespite the challenging global economy, 57% of multinational companies expect to increase the number of employees they transfer this year and next, according to the 2012 Trends in Global Relocation Survey from global relocation services company Cartus Corporation.

The survey, which was conducted during the first quarter of 2012 among 122 multinational firms based in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, also highlights a trend towards tightening expatriate benefits and a shift to alternative, temporary assignments.

HR Mobility Knowledge Share Conference, 24 October 

The Jubilee hourAs part of its support for The Jubilee Hour, Re:locate will be running a free one-day knowledge-sharing conference for HR representatives from the charity and not-for-profit sector, to be held at Knight Frank’s Baker Street offices on Wednesday 24 October.

We’ll be asking leading experts to give their hour of time to this worthwhile cause for the benefit of the charities. HR professionals from the private sector are also invited to attend without charge, to share their knowledge.

In return, those from the charitable sector will have expertise to impart about sending employees to particular countries – cost-saving measures and immigration knowledge, for example.

High-profile charities Oxfam, Save the Children and VSO have already signed up.

Report highlights rentals market in key global business centres 

Knight Frank Global Corporate Lettings ReviewWith corporate global mobility on the increase, two newly-published reports from property company Knight Frank, which examine the rentals market in key business centres around the world and look in detail at the increasing demand for prime rental properties by assignees working for multinational firms, will be useful tools for those managing global mobility and international assignments.

The Knight Frank Global Corporate Lettings Review 2012 finds that economic instability, and more specifically the Eurozone’s debt crisis, is the factor most critical to future demand in corporate global lettings.

Jubilee Hour: Re:locate holds technology event for local community 

Re:locate Technology Day for the local seniors as part of Jubilee HourThe idea of Re:locate’s technology training afternoon, held on Friday 20 July, was to open up the advantages of technology to older people in the local community, help with technical problems, or simply allow participants to see and use some of the new devices around, including Ipads and state-of-the-art mobile phones.

Informal workshop sessions allowed people to learn about emails and websites, from online shopping to eBay and booking tickets to visit Buckingham Palace. The more internet savvy showed great interest in the benefits of an iPad, while some simply wanted to know how to download photographs more effectively.

We also recruited a young volunteer on the first day of his school holidays. He was able to demonstrate everything with lightning speed, while honing his listening skills, which will be useful in his future training as a medic....
