British teachers in demand in international schools across the globe

TeachersThere are now 74,264 teachers from the UK working in British international schools across the world according to the latest NatWest International Personal Banking (NatWest IPB) Quality of Life Index.

That number is equal to almost 14% of teachers in UK state schools. The report, which was carried out for NatWest IPB by the Centre for Future Studies between October and December 2011, has predicted that by 2013 the number will have risen by a further 54% to nearly 115,000...

Report: record numbers see Scotland as top UK relocation destination 

ScotlandA study finds that nine out of ten people would choose to relocate to Scotland over other areas of the UK, an increase of 10% from 2010.

According to the 2012 TalentScotland Perception Survey, 69% of respondents believe Scotland offers a better work/life balance, with nearly all (92%–95%) of respondents working in new emerging sectors, such as life sciences, ICT and cnergy, claiming they would choose Scotland as a career location.

Scotland is extremely popular among those working in the energy sector, 95% of whom stated that they would move there for work. This reflects not only the attraction of Scotland’s established oil and gas industry, but also the opportunities available for skilled engineers to enter the country's rapidly-expanding renewable-energy industry...

Paragon seeks volunteers on July 12 to help youth charity 

The Jubilee hourIn support of The Jubilee Hour, Paragon Relocation is looking for volunteers to take part in a ‘transformation day’, to be held on Thursday 12 July in East London by Catch 22, a charity that helps young people and others who find themselves in seemingly impossible situations by developing the confidence and skills they need to find solutions – whether that means getting back into school or training, staying out of trouble, finding a safe place in which to live, or living independently after leaving care or custody.

The project involves transforming and improving community spaces, in conjunction with community groups. Catch22 will provide all necessary tools, plus lunch.

EDF selects preferred bidder for Hinkley Point C main civils 

Electricity PylonsEDF Energy has announced the selection of Bouygues TP/Laing O’Rourke Joint Venture as preferred bidder for a contract for civils work to build the proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C, in Somerset.

The announcement is a critical step in EDF Energy’s plans, with Centrica, to build the first new nuclear reactors in the UK for around 20 years, which EDF predicts will provide enough low-carbon electricity to power five million homes...

Survey reveals global organisations’ approach to talent mobility 

SurveyWorldwide ERC and global professional services company Towers Watson have released the results of a joint study, Global Talent Mobility Survey: Regional Differences in Policy and Practice.

The study focuses on how organisations approach talent mobility as part of their talent-management strategies, the difference between existing policies in the US, Europe and Asia, and how effective the current mobility structure is in attracting and retaining key talent.
