Dollar falls as Fed expands quantitative easing

Nat Davison, private clients FX manager at foreign currency exchange services specialist Personal FX, comments on the recent weakening of the US dollar.

After the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on 2 November, the US dollar initially moved lower as the Fed expanded its quantitative easing (QE) measures by a further $600bn until next July. The committee has decided to expand QE to promote a stronger pace of economic recovery and to ensure inflation remains constant with its mandate.
