Subject: You Gave Hundreds of Smiles, part 1 of 4

A Great Christmas

On December 23rd, waves of children came to the Mustard Seed Campus to pick up their Christmas gifts. Volunteer staff packed hundreds of blue bags with the ingredients for a festive Christmas dinner, including a coupon for a kilogram of beef from local butchers. And, there were extras like rice, cooking oil, beans, and soap that would last for many days after the big celebration.

It was exciting for the children to receive such a big gift. Christmas gifts for children are rare among the poor in Uganda, and during the pandemic, the chances for any celebration were slim. But with your compassion and caring, a very merry Christmas was possible for all the Mustard Seed families. THANK YOU!!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Many partners helped to pay for Festive Christmas Food. Large donations came from four churches: Ocean Heights Presbyterian (Egg Harbor Township, NJ), Trinity Episcopal (Allendale, NJ), Community Presbyterian (Brigantine, NJ), and High Mountain Presbyterian (Franklin Lakes, NJ). Twenty-one individuals also contributed.

Still, buying food was only part of what was needed. Ugandan leaders organized the purchase and packing. With help from kids home from college, Mustard Seed staff did the packaging. School administrators communicated with the parents and students about the plans for the special day and were present to greet their students and take photos.

None of this would have been possible without your support of students and staff throughout the year!

And, what a hard year it has been! But, you were there, meeting basic needs. More importantly, your encouragement and love kept hope alive.

With all my best and heartfelt gratitude,

Elaine
