Touched by Suicide:
A Personal and Psychological Perspective on the Longing for Death and Rebirth

Touched by Suicide by Christi Taylor-Jones delves into the very personal, yet archetypal, reasons why people choose to end their life, or think about doing so.

Although depression and mental illness are often cited as motivating factors, Taylor-Jones contends that anger, shame and self-hatred are greater contributors. Anxiety and impulsivity are also implicated. Underlying the suicidal urge, however, is a deep, and often unconscious, longing to end suffering through transformation and rebirth. Lacking the ability to undergo that process symbolically leaves no choice but to enact it literally.

Broadcast on Zoom from London

Join Chiron author Susan K. Faron for this webinar hosted by the Scientific and Medical Network.

This talk is based on Dr Faron‘s book, The Wise Old Woman Spirit – Help as a Partnership. In the book, Faron explores Jung’s and von Franz’s work on the archetype of the Wise Old Man and carries it forward to where we need it most: to the Wise Old Woman spirit (WOW spirit), a vital part of the human psyche that is critically needed in the world.

Faron will further the above exploration by an interview with Andreas Jung, grandson of CG and Emma Jung, and reveals Emma‘s life as the quintessential expression of the WOW spirit.

The Jean Shinoda Bolen Memoir

Ever Widening Circles & Mystical Moments: Autobiographical, Historical, Spiritual,
Psychological & Political

Ever Widening Circles and Mystical Moments is a long-awaited memoir by Jean Shinoda Bolen MD that invites readers to journey through a life interwoven with personal experiences and historical events. The book begins with Bolen's childhood, marked by her Japanese American family's forced relocation from California following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This experience—along with her early eye surgery and frequent moves to different states and schools where she was perceived as an “exotic other”—deeply impacted Bolen's worldview and led her to pursue a career as an author, activist, psychiatrist, and Jungian analyst.

Eranos – A Play

Eranos: A Play is an imaginative account of a meeting at the Eranos Conference in 1947. Carl Jung, Aniela Jaffé, Erich Neumann, Rabbi Leo Baeck, and the founder of Eranos, Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn, are gathered on the grounds of Eranos where the stillness of the setting under the trees and the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains create a magical aura.

Guided by the imagination of the authors, the play is deeply informed by historical sources and deals with questions such as: “What is evil?”, “How does one recover from the trauma of war?”, and “Is there a need for a new myth for our time?”

Brothers & Sisters Myth and Reality

Exploring all 33 brother-sister stories in Scripture, author Henry Abramovitch examines the developmental sequence within brotherhood/sisterhood as we struggle to find a place for each other. His knowledge of Indian epics, linguistics, anthropology and years of clinical experience deepen the work, and so highlights the crucial role sibling dynamics plays in the formation of our identity, in the transference and especially in the process of individuation.
The Serpent and the Staff/
The Mermaid and the Diver:
Stalking the Roots of Psychoanalysis

Within a field which ostensibly aims its focus on the unknowability of a realm below the surface, the unconscious, but which continues its tradition of basing itself in a rational mode “above ground,” ego consciousness, this book aims to “stalk the roots” of the psychoanalytic enterprise in a ground breaking manner.
