Subject: "A Film I Love..." Season from Cambridge Film Festival

Cambridge Film Festival presents a season of PAY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD events at the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse.

“A Film I Love...”
Each month a special guest will introduce a film which they love and explain why it means so much to them.
We're thrilled to be able to announce that tickets are now available for the first three special guests and the films they love...

On Monday March 25th we welcome Poet Hollie McNish to the Arts Picturehouse. Hollie has chosen Gurinder Chada's BHAJI ON THE BEACH.

The following month on Monday April 29th, Maths teacher and University Challenge star Bobby Seagull will return to Cambridge to present THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY.

Finally on Monday May 27th Classic FM presenter Tim Lihoreau will introduce cult classic WITHNAIL AND I.
The Films They Love...
Written by Meera Syal and directed by Gurinder Chadha, BHAJI ON THE BEACH is a multi award-winning comedy about a group of Birmingham-based Asian women, who head to Blackpool on what becomes for each of them a true journey of self-discovery. Confronting issues of commitment, duty, honour and sacrifice, the women begin to open up to each other and in the end new notions of solidarity and sisterhood across the generations emerge.
Starring Dev Patel and Jeremy Irons with support from Stephen Fry, Devika Bhise and Toby Jones, THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY from writer director Matthew Brown tells the true story of brilliant South Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, who in 1913 travelled to Trinity College Cambridge to work with professor G.H. Hardy. In the face of prejudice the two formed a friendship which would change mathematics forever.
Loosely based on director Bruce Robinson’s own life in London in the late 1960s, WITHNAIL AND I follows two unemployed, substance-abusing actors (Richard E. Grant & Paul McGann) who share a squalid flat in Camden Town. In desperate need of a holiday, they obtain the key to a country cottage in the Lake District belonging to Withnail’s eccentric uncle Monty, and embark on a weekend away which quickly descends into chaos.
PAY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD...
As a charity with the aim of bringing great films to as many people as possible, we are trialling a new PAY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD ticket scheme for these exciting events.

We hope that by removing the barrier of cost more people will be able to see these great films and hear why our special guests love them so much.

All tickets will be available on a sliding scale from FREE to £12 and you can chose what you pay based on your circumstances - you won’t be asked for any proof / ID. We just ask that you are honest.

We have created the table of information below to help explain the PAY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD scheme and the sliding scale of prices. It is simply a guide that may help you decide what to pay.
The Cambridge Film Festival and its year round events are presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge, the Eastern region and throughout the UK.
