It's the season of good will, and, it's been a while since I gave an out and out gift so, today, I am doing just that. No strings, no hidden meaning I just want to give you a gift at Christmas that has value in the message.

I spend a great deal of time reading things that might just make the way I think a little more positive and productive. Sometimes it works well (every little bit of positivity helps in truth) and sometimes it doesn't work so well. Much, if not all, depends on my state of mind

Now I know that the positive mindset area isn't everyone's cup of tea because it can often make as look at a part of ourselves that we don't want to see but, let's face it, we could all do with stepping aside sometimes and taking a good look.

So much of what we see and hear around us these days often looks a little toxic and even sick so it is no great surprise that it drags us down. So when I get a chance to read things that are a little thought provoking and perhaps even uplifting I like to partake.

It's got so bad these days that I am beginning to hate watching the news, reading the newspaper or even, sometimes, interacting with my neighbours and that's just not the real me. I don’t want to appear antisocial. I genuinely love people. But the world has made us sometimes a little more cold and cruel than we all used to be.

And, in the end, this has a huge impact on how we think and the decisions we make. So often we make the wrong decisions and fail to move forward bravely in life because of what we feed our minds. So much of our thinking has become habitual.

The result of all the negativity we see around us is a society of unhappy people. Well over 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Well over 50% of all young adults do not even believe in marriage.

We should strive to get back to days where it was easy to talk to strangers and it was unnatural not to be polite. Back to the days where people actually believed in warmth and friendship and looked out for their neighbours.

We need to start liking ourselves again. We each need to be the change we wish to see in the world. We need to heal ourselves and start to feel more compassion than anger again.

OK, tall order perhaps, but am so sick of the angst and anger we see around us and so I choose to at least try to be a bit more positive about things than many others.

Enough said, my gift to you is is a small but positive book that I recently read and then acquired permission to give out. I hope you enjoy it and it helps to make the holiday season a little more meaningful.

Have a great Christmas...

Regards

John
