First - A Note From John

When you first try to reset your password if you use Google Authenticator as your second line protection, you may find it rejects the Goog Auth code you put in (this happened to me). So use the "email pin code verification" instead as you go through the password change.

This got me in fine. BUT, this also disabled my existing Google Authenticator for this Bitclub Account so, if that happens to you, you will need to set that up again as if it were a new Google Authenticator account.

Details of Attempted Hack

As stated on our home page we experienced a security breach on November 25th and for the past 5 days our team has been pouring over all the records trying to figure out exactly what happened and restore access.

The biggest headache with a hack like this is we have to rebuild everything! Once someone gains this type of access they have a blueprint and they could potentially leave back doors in the code to come back later. So everything needs to be wiped and rebuilt!

This was by far the most targeted and sophisticated hack we have seen. We have reason to believe it was an inside job and have launched a full investigation into the 3rd party who allowed it to happen. We cannot disclose any further details at this time because it's an ongoing investigation now but we do want you to know that our pursuit to find these bad actors will be relentless.

The good news... No member funds were stolen or compromised and everything is exactly how you left it before the breach happened.

There were thousands of fake accounts and invoices created during this window which caused fake commission records and a tangled mess but we were able to roll everything back and restore from multiple back-ups.

It could be possible that we have lumped your invoice in with these fake ones if you paid during this same time frame so if there is an invoice missing or something in question please open a support ticket and provide as much detail as you can so we can handle it quickly.

The great thing about the Bitcoin blockchain is it never lies :) which means it will be easy to fix or debunk bogus requests.

Commission Payments...

Right now all binary, level up, matching and other commissions have been paid through November 24th.

We will be running the payment scripts to handle all invoices paid on the 25th in the next 24 hours and it's our goal to turn the invoicing system back on and allow new enrolments on the start of the next pay period. (so about 24 hours from now).

Mining earnings were not affected but the script to pay them is currently paused so you will also see all days (Nov 25-Dec 1st) paid once this is resumed. All mining revenue is done on completely different servers and there was no downtime on these servers so this will have no affect at all.

We expect to be live with everything about 24 hours from now and really appreciate your patience as we took some extra time to harden our scripts, increase security and get multiple security audits on the new code we had to write. (this nightmare will soon be over and we can resume business as normal)

Phishing Attempts...

We have already seen many emails attempting to spoof ours and gain your account information. Some of these emails look very real and one of our biggest concerns is these hackers, or other hackers trying to taking advantage of this situation spamming emails that look like they are from us.

Here is something to help you avoid getting tricked...

We will NEVER ask you to click a URL to login to your account. We will NEVER ask you to send us personal information or provide you with a Bitcoin address for payment via email. And a good rule of thumb is to NEVER click on URL's in emails.

All of the emails we send DO NOT contain links, you will receive a verification code that you copy and paste into the verification field, so please protect yourself and inform your teams to be very careful when restoring access to their accounts and receiving emails.

Support Tickets Deleted/Closed

If you had a support ticket open it has either been deleted or it may be "closed." Unfortunately, our system was spammed with thousands of fake support tickets likely in an attempt to mask any real ones.

We had to clear out and then overhaul the system and we have made some security improvements to this as well. So if you have an issue you will need to open up a brand new ticket or if you can find the ticket in archives just respond to it and it will open it back up.

New Verification PIN Codes...

We have locked everything down and now every form that you submit (withdrawal request, profile changes, and more will require you to enter a unique code that is only valid for 2 hours when generated).

You will have the option to secure your account with Google Authenticator (which we highly recommend for maximum security) Or you can request PIN codes that are sent to you via email each time you need them. When receiving these codes they will be valid for 2 hours and you can use the same code to submit many different requests within this 2 hour window. After 2 hours you will need to request another PIN be sent via email

Our goal over the next few months is to get all accounts secured with 2 factor security and make BitClub a fortress when it comes to protecting your data.

You will see these PIN codes are now LIVE!

Thank you again for your patience as we bring the website back online and get back to business. Our entire team has worked extremely hard and when something like this happens it only makes our security stronger and we are thankful that the damage done was very little in the grand scheme of things.

Sincerely,
-BCN Support
