Creation of Pines CC Handicap Committee
The Pines CC Board of Directors has established a Handicap Committee with responsibility for compliance with the obligations of the Pines under the Rules of Handicapping. The World Handicap System includes the Rules of Handicapping and the Course Rating System. Its purpose is to enhance the enjoyment of the game of golf and to give as many golfers as possible the opportunity to use their Handicap Index on any golf course around the world, and to compete, or play a casual round, with anyone else on a fair and equal basis.
The Handicap Committee of the Pines is responsible for ensuring compliance with the obligations under the World Handicap System in accordance with the Rules of Handicapping and the USGA. As a Committee, we will verify that acceptable scores are posted for handicap purposes and made available for peer review.
The Handicap Committee plays a vital role in the successful administration of a player’s Handicap Index and is equipped with tools to intervene when the calculated Handicap Index is no longer reflective of the player’s demonstrated ability. These tools are designed to make sure that players are treated fairly and consistently from golf club to golf club.
The Committee has set forth the following policies and procedures for all members wishing to establish and maintain a Handicap Index with our club.
• Maintain an active membership on the handicap roster of the club.
• Post all acceptable scores.
• Scores are to be posted within the same day of the round being played.
• Net double bogey is the max score to be taken on a hole.
• Each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round.
Actions for failure to post or for players manipulating their Handicap Index:
1. First failure to post or potential manipulation of your score will result in a verbal warning.
2. Second failure will result in a written warning and the appropriate penalty score issued for scores not posted (71 Par).
3. The third failure to post a score or continued manipulation of an individuals scoring record, further disciplinary action will be taken as the Handicap Committee deems fair and equitable.
The Handicap Committee has the authority and obligation to adjust a Handicap Index if it feels necessary to do so.
