| | | | Boy, a little bit of snow and cold, and everyone disappears!! Well, Mother Nature finally showed up and brought the bad stuff with her!! I guess we all knew it was going to happen, but like you, I was just hoping for a few more weeks of warmer weather and more golf. I hope everyone is doing well, and getting ready for the Holidays!!!
I would first like to say THANK YOU!!! We had a banner year, and it is all because of YOU!!! You got out, spread the word and invited friends and family to join our family here at The Pines CC!! We recorded more rounds of golf this year than any of my previous 15 years!! Pat yourselves on the back!!! Mike and the guys preformed BRILLANTLY!!! The course couldn’t have been any better, and with the number of rounds we recorded, I think we all owe them a huge Thank you, Job well done!!! Kudos Men!!!
I would also ask that you join me in congratulating Chris Stansberry!! Chris has really stepped up this year and was another big reason for the success of the club!! Chris is currently in his junior year at WVU and has been working full time while excelling in his academics at WVU. Chris has made a commitment to The Pines CC to fill our need for an Assistant Golf Professional. Chris enrolled in the PGA apprenticeship program, passed his Playing Ability Test, and will be working on his Class A status of the PGA in the next few years. We are very lucky to have Chris and couldn’t be more thrilled to know that he is planning on being a more permanent fixture here at the club.

| | What a great 2019 season!! As the year comes to a close and I reflect on the success of the club, I'm also planning ahead for a busy off-season for the Grounds Department. Here are a few of the projects we will be working on this winter.
1. Four new forward tees will be constructed on holes 7,10,15 & 18.
2. Fairways will be vented. This is a form of aerification that does not remove soil but opens the soil for better drainage, oxygen movement and reduces compaction in the soil.
3. Greens and approaches will be topdressed with sand multiple times to promote a firm playing surface.
4. The equipment fleet will be maintained and serviced.
5. 30 cutting units will be sharpened and adjusted for the best possible cut.
Please remember that flagsticks will be placed on the approaches during cold stretches this winter. This prevents frozen turf and roots from being damaged by foot traffic.
