At long last, spring has arrived. We’ve all been adhering to the social distancing protocol and with the improved weather the golf course is full. Notwithstanding, Covid-19 continues to bring us new challenges.

I’m sure it has occurred to each of you that the inability to place two (2) golfers in each cart has resulted in a loss of revenue to the club and sometimes a shortage of golf carts for those who prefer to ride. On the bright side, many of us have rediscovered just how much we enjoy the walking experience and would like to continue walking on weekends.

In an effort to accommodate our member preferences and be fiscally responsible, the Board has authorized the purchase of twelve (12) new golf carts and has revised the policy regarding walking on weekends. Beginning this weekend (May 23-24), members with tee times between 7:20 and 11:00 a.m., will be asked to use a cart. To accommodate those desiring to walk on weekends during that same time period (7:20 to 11:00 a.m.) a Walkers Trail Fee of $8.00 for shareholders and $10.00 for non-shareholders will be charged.

To those members who have offered to walk and pay the standard cart fee nonetheless, we all truly appreciate your generosity. The Board also appreciates the patience and understanding shown by all of our members as we have sought to find solutions to all of the unique issues we have faced over the last few months. We hope that with warm weather and longer hours of sunlight we will begin to see a return of normalcy in all of our lives.

On a final note, The Tavern at the Pines is doing well with its “soft opening” and the food and service is getting high praise from our members. Stop by and check it out. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.
