Subject: Letter from the Board on the Irrigation System

To all fellow Pines members:

Each year our Board of Directors, committee members, department heads and employees work to maintain the quality and operation of our club. This includes replacing major equipment that makes our course one of the finest in the state. In a few weeks we will be replacing one of the most important and oldest pieces of equipment at the Pines, our irrigation system.
The USGA says the lifespan for an irrigation system is between 15 and 25 years. Our system has put in 46 years - the time has come. We will eliminate the rising cost of repairing the current system and gain a more efficient and greener system. For instance, our current system has just over 300 sprinkler heads; the new system will have more than 900. This will give our superintendent the ability to use less water and more effectively target trouble areas. The system will transition from a single line down the middle to a double row down each fairway. We will achieve far better water coverage and the ability to independently turn on individual heads.
There will be updates on how this will impact play through the fall and winter as we have additional information. This will NOT require closing the entire course. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask a member of the board.

Sincerely yours,

The Pines C.C. Board of Directors
