So far this winter we have been experiencing the effects of El Nino which has extended the golf season. Due to these conditions, my staff will continue to roll greens, change pin locations and rake bunkers. However, one obvious area I'm sure many of you have noticed is that we have stopped mowing greens, tees and fairways. Last week we applied our winter fungicide applications that protect these turf areas from disease throughout the winter and into spring. Mowing would remove this protection and leave the turf vulnerable to disease. We applied a sand topdressing to the greens on Monday which will help with speeds and smoothness as we enjoy these extra bonus days.
