We are now approaching the point in the golf season when weather conditions favor healthy turf growth. The night time temperatures are dipping into the 50's lowering the soil temperature, daytime highs are in the 70's and soil moisture lingers a bit longer. We can use these conditions to our advantage when it comes to divot repair on tees and fairways. If you take a divot that is intact, please replace it because the chances of it recovering are higher due to the favorable growing conditions. The key is to put it back in the direction that it came out and step down on it with enough pressure to make soil contact. If the divot is not repairable then make sure to use divot mix to fill the void making sure that it is level with the playing surface. Too much will result in mounding that can dull the mower blades and too little will make uneven areas on the playing surfaces. Thank you!!
