Dear Friends,

Join us for worship this Sunday at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. as we welcome new members, celebrate stewardship, enjoy music from the choir and praise team, and give thanks for each other through a "Volunteer Appreciation" Coffee Hour.

If you had to choose one bible passage to introduce the way of Jesus to someone who had no prior exposure to Christianity, what would you choose?

One good option would be Mark 12:28- 34.

Love God. Love your neighbor as yourself.

When we live these commandments, Jesus says we are "not far" from the kingdom of God. The life God has in store for us is not as far away as we think.

Let's discover this life together! See you Sunday!
GATHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteer Appreciation Coffee Hour - Today - Please join us in saying "Thank you" to all those who volunteer at Pilgrim! The council is inviting all those who serve on a team or committee to be acknowledged at coffee hour after the 10:30 a.m. service. It will also be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and the gifts we are sharing with the larger community. Thank you for the love you show for God and God's people at Pilgrim!

The Altar Flowers Sunday are given in honor of Ed and Debbie Nelson’s anniversary.

The Dining Group will be getting together TODAY at 5:30 p.m. at the Blind Faith Café, 525 Dempster, Evanston. They have a full bar and street parking. Please RSVP to Julie at 773-366-0724. Thanks!

Sunday is Stewardship Sunday 2018 - “People of Joy” -  One of God's greatest gifts to us is joy!  There are so many ways God has blessed us to experience joy in our faith and through Pilgrim.  A mailing was sent last week with an invitation to pray about your financial giving to Pilgrim, with an invitation to make a commitment to give intentionally in 2019. Thank you once again for your partnership in our mission to gather, prepare, and send.

Receiving New Members - We praise God for sending Pilgrim new members! Welcome to the following households: Wes and Camille McClain, with children Violet and Thatcher, and Chris and Laura Newbury, Maik and Amanda Breckwoldt, with children Lukas and Lorelai. Come help decorate the sanctuary and outdoor areas for Christmas on Saturday, December 1st, at 9:30 a.m. Great activity for families, because kids can help too, and we need at least a couple of taller people to help with the upper reaches of the trees. Refreshments will be served. Questions? Contact Chris Wallis at cewallis1949@yahoo.com

Join us between services December 2nd for assembling the bags. We invite children and others to come and make handmade cards to include in the bags. Coats for Hot Meals Guests are needed now that we have cold weather (mostly men's Medium, Large and a few XL) and unisex hats and gloves. They can be from second hand stores, or your slightly used coats. Drop them off during Hot Meals, or there will be a storage bag them in the Pantry Hallway.

Pilgrim Church Endowment News - For 2018, the committee voted to disburse a total of $13,000 among 20 different worthy causes providing food, support and relief services locally, nationally and worldwide. We disbursed just over 30% to Pilgrim Tuition Assistance. We disbursed just under 30% to National and Global causes, like the ELCA Southeast Michigan Synod (Flint, MI water crisis) and Lutheran Disaster Response which provides relief for domestic disasters like hurricanes and the California wildfires, and COSAD and Lutheran World Relief internationally. And the balance, about 40%, was disbursed to a host of local organizations, such as local food pantries, homeless shelters and a couple churches that engage in providing food and comfort to the needy. We would like to thank everyone for their continuing support of this important part of Pilgrim's extended outreach to our community and beyond.
