Subject: This Week at Pilgrim

Pilgrim Announcements
March 15th, 2015

Dear Friends,

Last Saturday, everyone in Chicago suddenly started acting a little happier. Warm weather and the hope of spring does wonders for our collective mood!

In the same way, the warmth of a worship community and the hope Jesus brings us as we move through Lent does wonders for our lives.

Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.!

Lent at Pilgrim 2015 ‘Living Prayers’
Join us for a wonderful time of growth as we learn to be "Living Prayers" in these 40 days of Lent!

Each Wednesday, we gather at 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for a community dinner for all ages, followed by an interactive prayer/service activity that will draw us closer to God, to one another, and the world!

We also recommend a book for your Lenten Journey: Learning to Pray Again: Peace and Joy Through an Ancient Practice  by Michael Rinehart on, either as an ebook or as a hard copy as we explore being "living Prayers" throughout Lent.

Story of Love at Chicago Tabernacle
From son of the congregation Jake Sparlin: “On March 30, 2007 this production completely transformed my life from the inside out - and I don't say that loosely.   Eight years later, I still look back on that night as the greatest and most important moment of my life.  I've been involved in the production ever since, and I'm as excited as ever that it will be here in just a few weeks. PLEASE - do whatever you can to make it out. It really is one of the most creative and captivating live productions you may ever see. “

Prayer for this Week
O God rich in mercy, by the humiliation of your Son you lifted up this fallen world and rescued us from the hopelessness of death. Lead us into your light, that all our deeds may reflect your love, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Numbers 21:4–9 (NRSV)
Though God provides food and water for the Israelites in the wilderness, they whine and grumble. They forget about the salvation they experienced in the exodus. God punishes them for their sin, but when they repent God also provides a means of healing: a bronze serpent lifted up on a pole.

Ephesians 2:1–10 (NRSV)
While we were dead in our sinfulness, God acted to make us alive as a gift of grace in Christ Jesus. We are saved not by what we do but by grace through faith. Thus our good works are really a reflection of God's grace at work in our lives.

John 3:14–21 (NRSV)
To explain the salvation of God to the religious leader, Nicodemus, Jesus refers to the scripture passage quoted in today's first reading. Just as those who looked upon the bronze serpent were healed, so people will be saved when they behold Christ lifted up on the cross.
Eggstravaganza—Northcenter Spring Egg Hunt
