Epiphany “3 Kings” Celebration - SUNDAY we invite all children and youth to help with a special procession and dramatic reading of the magi story. Please gather at the back of the Narthex. We will have a piñata and great fellowship to follow the 10:30 a.m. service.

Pilgrim School Winter Carnival - The PTL presents Winter Carnival this Friday, January 18th, from 6:30 - 8:00. It’s food, fun, Games, Face Painting, Balloon Creations, and BINGO.Single person entry is $5; or $10 per family. Families are welcome to bring neighbors or friends!

Christmas Un-Decorating Party, Saturday, January 19th - Please join the Worship team on Saturday, January 19th at 9:30 a.m. to pack up the Christmas trees and other decorations. Weather and resources permitting, we’ll also tackle the outdoor lights. Refreshments will be served. Contact Chris Wallis at to volunteer or for more information.

Dining Group - On Sunday, January 20th, we will visit the Serbian Village Restaurant, 3144 W. Irving Park Road. for 5:30 p.m. dining. Street parking is available. Please join us and RSVP to Julie at 773-366-0724.

The Reverend Martin Luther King Faith In Action Assembly - On Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 21st, many people of faith around Chicago will be gathering for Community Renewal Society’s annual assembly. We will let our voices be heard as we host a Chicago Mayoral Candidate Forum during the assembly. The Example Setters Youth Poetry group will perform the Keynote Address. We will leave from Pilgrim at 7:45 a.m., the Praise Team starts the assembly at 8:45 a.m., which ends at 11:30 a.m. If you want to meet us at the event location, please go to: Liberty Baptist Church, 4849 S. King Drive, Chicago. Please RSVP to by January 17th.

Vision and Leadership” Congregational Meeting—January 27th - Calling all members! Our upcoming annual meeting will be January 27th at 11:45 a.m. in Maring Hall. It is a great moment to celebrate the ministry that has taken place over the past year. We will be electing our council members and sharing a financial update. Thank you in advance for your participation! In addition, we will be introducing a new tool for Pilgrim’s growth and future: the Church Assessment Tool (CAT) is an on-line instrument that will help leaders gauge the strength, vitality, and trends in our church. The information gained from this assessment will be valuable in helping us as we live into the future of Pilgrim’s mission. The survey will be distributed on January 27th, and we will collect responses through Sunday, February 17th. Results of the survey will be shared and interpreted with the council on February 27th.

Dine Out for Pilgrim at the Piggery Restaurant, 1625 W. Irving Park, on January 30th. They are donating 15% of purchases from open to close (11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m..). This event will benefit the Windows Into Our Future program. You can dine in or carry out (phone orders only, 773-281-PIGS). Be sure to show the flyer or mention Pilgrim! Altar Flowers - Have you ever wondered why we sometimes have fresh flower arrangements on the Altar? They are given in Memory of, or in Honor of or in Celebration of someone special in your life. Sign up sheets (through 2019) are on the bulletin board at the back of the Sanctuary and a pair of arrangements costs $30. Payment can be put in the offering to Pilgrim, with a note that it’s for flowers.

First Communion Class begins in February - Join us on Wednesday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m. This interactive class (that is geared for adults as well as children and youth) is focused on helping us grow in our relationship with God. We will cover the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, the Ten Commandments, and the meaning of the Sacraments.

Prayer Time - We invite you to join us Saturday mornings at 8:30 a.m. at the Parsonage for a time of prayer... it is so renewing!

Taking  Faith Home is a devotional tool for families to use on a daily basis. It includes scripture readings, prayers and blessings to share. Weekly handouts are on the table at the back of the church.

Explore the Bible - We are studying the Prophets of the Old Testament. Join us on Sunday’s at 9:15 a.m. in Maring Hall (the basement). There is no experience necessary.

Women’s Bible Study will meet again on Wednesday, January 21st. We meet every other Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for light refreshments and start at 7:00 p.m. Contact Renee at for more info or to get on the email list.
Thank you from Coat Angels for your generosity and support! Between donated coats and monetary donations totaling $1,300, we were able to provide coats for 78 children. Coat Angels was thrilled to receive this bounty!

Thank you, Pilgrim! The school sends a heartfelt thank you for all the toy donations. We met and exceeded our goal! We collected 188 toys! This is such a generous community! Friday, December 14th, the toys were delivered to our friends at Pablo Casals Elementary School. Thanks for making it happen.

"Windows Into Our Future" Campaign - Thank you to everyone who came out to our special reception on November 14th. Representatives from both the general contractor and the windows manufacturer were on hand to share details of the project and answer questions. We invite you to learn more about this project and to consider giving to this project by visiting To give by check, make the check out to "Pilgrim Lutheran" with the memo line, "Windows Into Our Future". So far, we have received over $70,000. Our goal is to raise $95,000 by March. Thank you!

Coats for Hot Meals Guests are needed (mostly men's Medium, Large and a few XL) and unisex hats and gloves. They can be from second hand stores, or your slightly used coats. Drop them off during Hot Meals, or the clothes bag in the Pantry Hallway.

2019 Giving Envelopes - Members, please pick up your box of giving envelopes for 2019. They are on the table in the narthex.

Party for Pilgrim 25K Raffle! We invite each Pilgrim household, both school and church families, to participate in selling raffle tickets! Grand Prize is $2,000 cash, and consolation prizes are two $500 Amazon Gift Cards! Please pick up your envelope today. You have two options: A) Sell 10 raffle tickets at $25 each or B) Write a check to Pilgrim for $250. This allows us to all contribute equally and generously in this year’s annual fundraiser!

Trivia Night!  Join us on February 9th for a fun filled night of Trivia.  All proceeds benefit the Class of 2020 trip to Washington DC.  Tables for 8 are $175 until February 11th and $200 thereafter.  Cash bar, Chicago Pizza, Split the Post and the announcement of the raffle winner!  Doors open at 6:30 pm., Trivia starts at 7:00 pm..  See you there!

Gift Cards - Happy 2019! Gift card sales for the year ended on a high note with sales of $20,160 for the month of December - more than our 1st and 3rd individual quarter totals. Thank you for your continued support! Cash and check sales will resume January 6th and continue on Sundays after the 10:30 service, and Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. in the school office. Sales also increased on our Benefit-mobile app, where Pilgrim is listed under 60613 and schools. You may pay using your bank account or a credit card.
