Dear Friends,

Has anyone accused you of being "salty"? According to Jesus, that may not be such a bad thing. (Mark 9:50) Salt adds zest. Salt preserves. Salt represents flavor. It replenishes our bodies after exertion.

After a hard week for many of us, it is important that we enter a space of rest, renewal, and peace for our souls. Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.

New Member Exploration Classes - What does ‘Lutheran’ mean? How can Pilgrim help me and my family grow in faith? What does it mean to become a member of Pilgrim? If you’re at all curious about any of these questions, please consider attending an exploration class TODAY (September 30th) and October 7, at 9:15 a.m. in the Church Parlor. Child care is provided throughout each class. Please contact our Church Office Administrator, Renee Stuedemann, at for more information. Thank you!

Attention Parents of 6th-8th Grade! In this time in which our children are growing so fast, spiritual growth and positive peer support are so important. For this reason, Pilgrim offers a program called confirmation, which enables 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to grow in their relationship with God. With fun trips and retreats, service projects, worship participation, and interactive classes, our students grow a strong faith foundation that will last for a lifetime. This program is open to all students regardless of their background, religious affiliation, or church membership. Our first meeting will be TODAY (September 30th) at 9:15 a.m. All are invited to check it out! For more information about the program, please contact Pastor Kristian at

We are still looking for more people to help tutor or mentor the family, or are willing to take on specific small projects. We will have an Info/Interest meeting on Sunday, October 7th, at 12:00 noon in the Parlor. Please join us or inform Renee at if you are interested.
Thank you to the Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation (CLEF) for their support of Pilgrim. We received notice that CLEF has awarded Pilgrim $35,000 to be used for Tuition Assistance. This amount, combined with the generous support of donations from current and alumni families plus members of the congregation, allows many students to be part of the Pilgrim family who might otherwise might not be able to afford our tuition. Thanks!!!

Windows Into Our Future - There are 30 classroom windows which face west along the alley. They are old, they are not energy/cost efficient, and they provide no sound proofing. We have set a goal to raise $85,000 in the next 10 months, and our appeal is to both school families and church members. We have raised $34,000 so far. We encourage both one-time donations and on-going monthly donations to this campaign over the coming 12 months. To give, visit and if you have any questions, please contact the school office at
